Flight Tips & Connections
-
Always book a return flight (outbound and inbound in one purchase), as it is usually cheaper.
-
Flying midweek (Tuesday to Thursday) is often more affordable.
-
Make sure you select Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom (do not confuse it with Edinburg in the USA).
-
Many routes include layovers in major European hubs such as Paris, Amsterdam, Frankfurt or London.
-
Some routes may connect through U.S. cities (New York, Boston, Chicago, or Atlanta). Please note that a valid U.S. visa or ESTA is required for transit.
-
We recommend connecting through Amsterdam Airport Schiphol — it is a very smooth airport, quick to navigate, and very well organised.
-
Most flights have layovers; we recommend allowing at least 3 hours between flights.
-
Common airlines flying to Edinburgh include British Airways, KLM, Air France, Lufthansa, Ryanair and easyJet.
-
Low-cost airlines may not include cabin baggage, so please check baggage policies before booking.
-
For the best prices, book 4 to 7 months before your trip.
-
Setting price alerts (Google Flights or Skyscanner) can help you find better deals.
-
You may find better prices flying into Glasgow and travelling to Edinburgh (around 1 hour).
-
We recommend arriving at least one day before the wedding to allow time to settle in.
